This was originally being discussed in another thread, but rather than thread-jack here is a nice, new, clean thread for it. I'm up for it even if I dont have money to participate. It won't cost a dime to watch Rene run circles around some wanna be MP3s. Those of you that know you will have the money to run, follow the link below to pre-register for the event.

I'll definitly go.

Hey Rene, I read on Mazda3Forums that the SCCA is likely moving the Mazda 3 into the HS class instead of the GS. Have you heard anything about it? Not that it matters all that much since it's my first time and I'll likely finish dead last.

Drivers being equal, does the 3 have a better chance against a Cooper S or a Civic Si, those seem to be the best cars in the G and H Stock classes repectively?

That might be a good thing... Being your first time, HS is an "easier" class to race in. If you look at the results on http://autox.carlc.com/results.htm you'll see the types of cars that show for the events. See that's the beauty of SCCA auto-x, it really doesn't matter what car you drive, it's the driver that matters. The more seat time you get, the better YOU get. I mean really, most of the times I am matching or besting drivers that are in cars that are worth twice what my little Mazda's worth. Then again, I have a long way to go too. There is always room for improvement.

JCell
July 2nd, 2005, 01:26
then again, don't forget that the mp3 was considered one of the top 10 handling cars in the world, i think it was number 7 or 8

i'll look for the site i found this at, but i think it was car and driver that made the list

Yeah, uh, father of four, husband, student, and a full time job where I am RESPONSIBLE for over 60 lives... I think I got you beat on that notion as well. That is rich!!! You have just gotten your feet wet in life my little grasshopper. I certainly do not need a lecture on RESPONSIBILTY (check your spelling) from you. Having a job is only part of being responsible. It's certainly not my fault that you are the one that has a job that last 7 days a week. Maybe you need to find some COURAGE and find a normal job that will allow you some free time to enjoy your life. Think before you speak, especially when addressing one of the counsel elders.:D

I would like to meet up with anyone who is running and is going to be there on time. Please someone give me info., for I would hate to show up late.

autox.carlc.com should have directions to the speedway. its in south miami so its gonna take you a while to get there Tony. as far as i noe you should just remove any loose items from the car. anything that you dont NEED should be taken out as a safety precaution. if the officials feel that something should not be in there they will let you know at inspection and you can correct it then.

Rene! do you have the blue mp3. i remember you cuz i wanted to get your amber turn signal lights and trade you for the ones off of my MSP!.

I have prepped the car for this race but i'm unsure as to what I may and may not remove from the vehicle. It is currently equipped with a momo cup vtr racing seat and 4pt nrg racing harness, the 2 side belts are braced on the seat bolts while the top belts are held by the stock bracket on teh back seat. take a look tomorrow so you can tell me what i need to bring and what not. . i have removeed the spare the rear carpet in teh trunk adn the back seats along with the passenger seat. please let me know of what i need to fix since the race is in a few hours.

also i'm in desperate need of a helmet that i can borrow. please if anyone can help me on this it would be much appreciated!!

At what time is everyone NOT participating rolling out. Why don't the North peeps meet up with the locals to roll out together? Jonathan, give me a call or just post the time and place to meet. I was thinking we could meet in the Winn Dixie shopping plaza buy your crib. For all others who don't know where that's at...it's just east of the 826 and Miami Lakes Drive (?). Jonathan, can clear up the directions a bit.

You are fine with what you have done, but having removed the seats (why'd you do that?) will place you in a different class, that's all. There's not much more that you can do, except put it all back. Removing your spare does not change your class.

Hey Rockie, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat! (Where's Bullwinkle?)
What the hell is a "rockie"?
Actually Grasshopper, I felt my runs were less than amazing... I actually sucked! :o But I still managed a 5th place run in a class of 14 cars. Kenny looked good out there and was happier than a sailor in a whorehouse with a 2-for-1 sale going on. It's all about seat time. The more you are out on the track, the more you learn.
I don't think I'll be attending the August auto-x because it's just too brutally hot out there. My "punk-bitch to the sun" ass can't take the heat.

I must say that I had a blast at the auto X. I learned that my car and myself definitly out corner my tires. Holy pushing through corners Batman. I enjoyed myself so much that I'm really thinking about getting serious ie: traveling long ways/ over night trips. Eventhough I DNF both runs I can't wait to do it again. Maybe this time I won't end up playing chicken with an off coarse Skyline. Ask Kenny or Rene if you don't believe me. Red flags everywhere.

If you think your car is loud, or others have told you your car is loud. You will not be allowed to run. We can not put the future use of this site in jeopardy.
