There is gonna be a High Performance Driving Event at Moroso that weekend.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever done it. Or any other driving school for that matter. For beginners the registration is $275 for one day and that is with the school included. If you are not a member of NASA you have to join as well. It's $40 for a year.
Wanted to get some feedback, is it worth it? What kind of instructors are they?

Yeah, I was talking to Rene and he was telling me that it's very intense. I think I'd be better off heading to an autocross event or 2 beforehand. I'm not really interested in becoming a racer or anything. I just want to develop some advanced skills and be better able to handle myself out there.
Post edited, my bad on the spelling bro.

Let's see... can I just taKe a second to analyze what you just said? You, the driver of that POS, ass-sparking, wanna-be MP3 are saying that you are down for autoX? Well my fair-weathered friend... where have you been all season? There have only been 5 events this year, and you have been to, let me think, exactly...
0!
But I bet you would just love to come to the next one to show me how well that poorly cloned Mazda race car of yours performs, that is if you're not full of piss ant excuses. Sunday, July 17th. Mark it on your calendar. Hell, here's the link to pre-register:

I hope I wasn't too harsh on you :D... shit talker!!!

p.s. - we can laugh together at each other! itll be my first also! i dont count my bad driving on city streets as autoX. lol.

I'm definitly going now.
Rene, where did you say was a good place to find an inexpensive approved helmet?
MazPro
June 30th, 2005, 12:52
yeah, inexpensive and DOT(or whatever) approved.

It has to be Snell approved I think. Just DOT is not enough. I think he told me around $80 or something.
I went to bell.com and found these on close out. They are Snell M2000 approved so I think they would work.

Both are $59.95 and shipping is FedEx for $12.99

if you dont know what helmet size you wear and you have some extra time, go over to Speed Indoor and ask them if you can try on a few helmets. you might want to try a local motorcycle shop if you dont have time to drive that far south.

how much bigger is ur head than mine, i'm xlYeah but half of your head is fake. You really have a small head with a bunch of addons to make your head look bigger. That is probobly not even your real hair.

I went to Broward Motorsports and they had this helmet there for $84.95.
http://mxdirtrider.com/h-products/pr-helmets-hjc-CL31-Solid.htm
I tried them on and the L was a bit snug and was uncomfortable after about 3 minutes wearing it. The XL was perfect. I've never bought a helmet, but when I buy fitted baseball hats I wear a size 7 1/2 or 7 5/8 depending on the brand. There are a bunch of sizing guides online. Here is one.
http://mxdirtrider.com/h-service/s-sizing-charts-HJC.htm
Here is the pertinent info.
ADULT HELMET SIZE HEAD CIRC. (IN) HEAD CIRC. (CM) HAT SIZE
XS 20 7/8" - 21 1/4" 53cm - 54cm 6 5/8 - 6 3/4
SM 21 5/8" - 22" 55cm - 56cm 6 7/8 - 7
MD 22 3/8" - 22 3/4" 57cm - 58cm 7 1/8 - 7 1/4
LG 23 1/4" - 23 5/8" 59cm - 60cm 7 3/8 - 7 1/2
XL 24" - 24 3/8" 61cm - 62cm 7 5/8 - 7 3/4
XXL 24 3/4" - 25 1/4" 63cm - 64cm 7 7/8 - 8
I also ran by pepboys at the tower shops and they had the Bell Tourlite SC for $69.99, but they only had the floor model in L, not XL. The guy told me they get more in on Tuesday.

Overall of the two, I think the HJC is the nicer and more comfortable of the 2 helmets. The chinstrap on the Bell was too far back it cut into my throat sort of. But you may like it.
