Daytona Beach photoshoot/picnic/mini roadtrip

Since some people showed interest in doing this trip I am posting this as a question to the club. Who wants to go to Daytona for another photoshoot? if you do want to go lets decide on a date/time. im all for it and i will do my best to work my schedule around the decided date.

Well, we are thinking of having the picnic on the 26th and NOPI is right around the corner. Were you planning on doing this before or after NOPI. If it's before NOPI then there are still a few Sunday's available. We have 7/10, 7/17, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14 etc... Why don't we just start voting on a date. I only mentioned Sundays' because it seems to be a preferred day of the week for these types of events.

Hell, there's only 5 or 6 who post on this forum although it says there's 19 members. As soon as we decide on an exact date, I was planning on posting it on the FMC Forums. I'm sure Josh, Jay and the rest of the crew will ride out to meet us halfway. Remember, there were ten cars alone at the BG meet. I thought that was pretty good considering.

yeah, i enjoyed meeting the tampa peeps. they were cool. it was great to see a "parallel" mazda owner "universe". they also meet up and enjoy themselves and deal with issues. nice of them to drive out to our hotel too.

no need to ask me whether i am going guys. if it starts with, ends with, contains, mentions, implies "road trip" - I AM THERE. let hook this trip up and get some people from all over the state to come.

Orlando meet is on Saturday. We stay the night on Sat and go to Daytona on Sunday, take pics and come home. You get a road trip weekend and the chance to meet other Mazda owners. If we're going that way around the same time we should to it that weekend. It seems stupid to say we won't go to their meet necause they don't come down here. Especially when we're planning to go an hour east the weekend before or after. It's no like we have a planned date or anything. That and the Tampa Peeps will aready be half way across the state. Better chances of them showing up.

ok, here's the thing...

There is no problem driving on the beach, but it'll cost every car between $5.00 and $10.00 for admission (yes to drive on the beach). I don't remember the exact number. It doesn't matter to me, considering that i've already spent $2,000.00 in gas to drive from ft lauderdale to daytona.

As far as the bbq thing... I really don't know. I remember bbqing on the beach before, but i don't know if it is allowed. I know they have little kiosk/vans that sell food and rent boogie boards, etc. I don't know of any stationary bbq's like they have at Markham Park so that would lead me to believe that u can't bbq. I also don't know of ANY parks near the beach. I always spent beach days in South Daytona, down by Ponce Inlet.

I suggest that we all grab coolers and buy like subway or something it will be alot easier.

It seems to me that everyone else in the state wants to do it on saturday. If we do that, then we should be up there by like 10:00am sat party the whole day and then drive the hour to orlando and crash there. We can party downtown, or we could call it quits and go to a theme park on sunday. It's also closer to home than daytona.

Can someone please post this on all the other forums, please (fmc, etc)?

i did some searching and found that it is $5.00 per car to drive onto the beach. there are a few state parks around the area, but they did not list any prices for admission to the parks. if we did decide to go to the beach i think it would be better to just bring food with us that did not need to be cooked. anyone that wants to BBQ can bring their own in the back of their car.

i like the idea of going to Orlando after daytona. i know a few bars we could hit up that have decent drink prices and cheap covers.

I finally read this thread. The week and weekend before this is going down. July 19th-26th, I am gonna be in Hawaii for my sister's wedding. She's an LT in the Army and is stationed over there with her fiancee who's a Captain and an Army Ranger to boot. So I will be all kinds of broke coming back from that. So I'm probably not down for pictures in Daytona, all though that would be very cool.

we will be meeting at the Circuit City located on Okeechobee Rd. right off of I-95 on July 30, 2005 at 7am. we will roll out no later than 8am. we will then proceed to drive northbound on I-95 to Daytona to meet with the central FL crew. Sean actually knows exactly where we are going so we are just going to use the "follow the guy in front of you" rule for directions.

after we are done in Daytona we are going to head west to Orlando for the night. it has not been decided what we are going to do when we make it to Orlando. so any ideas/suggestions are welcome.
